 City of San Antonio Neighborhood and Housing Services Department- Green & Healthy Home

Assist owners and landlords of residential properties built prior to 1978, housing low-income families with children under age six, to control hazards in the home which include lead-based paint and asthma. Also help with fire alarms, trip hazards, and bathroom modifications. Also provide education on the impact of lead on children.  COIL (Center on Independent Living)

COIL helps Medicaid recipients that are in nursing facilities move to an independent living environment; contracted by HHSC through DADS to provide relocation services. COIL provides services and support systems needed to promote community integration/inclusion and self-sufficiency for individuals with significant physical disabilities. COIL offers training, relocation services, system navigation, problem solving and planning services for families, service providers, and various local and state agencies.

 Homes for Texas Heroes

Funding Available on June 1, 2018 Limited in availability, but when funding available, can possibly assist veterans, their spouses, or widows with home modifications that are medically necessary or address problems that are critical to safety & comfort with aging in place. Examples: ramps, door widening, grab bars, increased lighting, walk-in showers, raised toilets. TVC-funded grant to help with home modifications related to medical needs. The Housing 4 Texas Heroes grant program is available to veterans & their families, sponsored by TX Veterans Commission Fund for Veteran Assistance (FVA) & the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG)to help our nation’s heroes in their time of need. Provides home modifications, up to $10,000, to provide mods that are associated with medical needs or conditions for the primary residence of a Veteran.

 101 Mobility

101 Mobility assists those who are disabled or seniors "aging in place" in the San Antonio as well as the Hill Country. Provide free safety assessment for accessibility products in their home. Install and service products, including stair lifts, patient lifts, auto lifts, vertical platform lifts, commercial lifts, and ramps. Immediate installation available in most cases. Ask about long or short term rentals. We provide commercial applications for ADA compliance. We have a display in our showroom for our products. Free evaluations are provided.
