The flagship of the organization is the Veterans Service Center (VSC) in San Antonio where a continuum of care is available to veterans in need with several optional programs including the Veterans Integration Program and the Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program. Additional ancillary services are provided through NVOP’s Basic Skills Upgrade Learning Lab, clothing closet and food pantry. Assistance is provided as a single service or as a combination of services as dictated by each individual’s case management plan. The Texas Veterans Outreach Program targets recently discharged veterans, veterans with a physical or psychological disability that creates a barrier to employment, homeless veterans and veterans that are ex-offenders now trying to regain a role in society. HOMELESS VETERANS The American GI Forum Residential Center for Homeless Veterans with 80 transitional beds and 60 single room apartments is a facility dedicated to the needs of America’s warriors who have been living on the streets. DISABLED VETERANS One option for the disabled veterans is employment through the organization’s sheltered workshop facility called Veterans Enterprises of Texas (VETS) that employs a minimum of 75% disabled individuals. HOUSING FOR THE ELDERLY Three apartment complexes providing 170 affordable apartments for the independent living of senior citizens. The Villa Alegre, Casa De Amistad and Casa De Esperanza are subsidized projects that provide affordable apartments for seniors on low, fixed incomes.

Free case management program to help families caring for children and adults with I/DD (intellectual and developmental disabilities.) connect to community programs, funding sources and help families navigate the network of service providers in Bexar County. The goal is to move families from a high level of dependency on case managers to greater independence and self-advocacy. Case managers connect families to medical coverage, medical providers, respite care, funding sources as well as food and utility assistance programs. The Comprehensive School-Based Case Management (CSCM) staff works in the San Antonio community with families who have children and young adults, ages 3-21 years, with special health care needs and disabling conditions. CSCM case managers help families navigate the network of service providers and act as advocates to serve the best interests of the child. The Community Living Assistance and Support Services (CLASS) offers individuals with disabilities who need attendant care an alternative to institutionalization by helping them access the resources they need to live and work as independently as possible in the community. CLASS case managers help participants obtain personal assistance with daily activities; personal skills training; physical, occupational, speech and specialized therapies; adaptive aids; minor home modifications; and respite care.

Provides behavioral, educational, employment, residential, and diagnostic/assessment outpatient services to individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorders. The educational program is approved as non-public school through the Texas Education Agency. Regional school districts contract for year round day services. Vocational training occurs on community job sites and through participation in the Heart-to-Home, ATC's cottage industry. Residential services are provided in community based teaching homes. Two of the teaching homes are certified as residential treatment centers by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Three teaching homes are licensed as ICF/MR facilities, and serve adults. The emphasis of ATC is on Applied Behavioral Analysis, replacing challenging behaviors with functional communication and adaptive behaviors in a supportive and structured setting.

The Cancer Therapy and Research Center, or CTRC, is a part of UT Medicine San Antonio, the clinical practice of the School of Medicine at the UT Health Science Center. Provides radiation, chemotherapy, surgical oncology, clinical trials, mammography, support groups and cancer education. Additional assistance can come from social workers who can help with arranging for home health care, connecting with community services, providing crisis intervention, and offering emotional support and counsel. At the Woodlawn location, children participate in classroom instruction in an on-campus school, field trips, and an array of activities in the Learning Center. A community program sponsored by Peterson Regional Medical Center, designed to help individuals & families cope with serious illness. Offers a volunteer for weekly visits to help a person who is isolated & needs companionship adding an extra watchful eye. Offers connection to community resources, companionship & emotional support, practical help with errands, & respite for a "little time off" for caregivers. After assessing a client’s needs, the Volunteer Manager connects clients with a volunteer for ongoing support. The Volunteer Manager continues to monitor each client’s changing needs & offer referrals to appropriate resources. Pathway Services are available in a client’s home, wherever that may be. (Personal home, skilled nursing facility, assisted living). Hospice enrollment is not a requirement.

Leave a message & your call will be returned. * Provides hope to families & individuals by preventing them from entering homelessness. * Provides rental assistance, utility assistance & supportive services to enable individuals & families who are in imminent danger of eviction, or are currently homeless. SAMMinistries works with the homeless by cutting the amount of time a family experiences homelessness & rapidly re-housing families into permanent homes. Supportive services must directly relate to the prevention of homelessness & rapid re-housing. These services are provided in an effort to stabilize families in their existing homes, shorten the amount of time that individuals and families stay in shelters, & assist individuals & families with securing affordable housing. The households must document a temporary economic crisis beyond their control, by giving evidence of at least one of the following conditions: loss of employment; medical disability or emergency; loss or delay of some form of public benefit; natural disaster; substantial change in household composition ; victimization by criminal activity; illegal action by landlord; displaced by government or private action.

Under the Consumer Managed Personal Assistance Services (CMPAS) program, the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) contracts with licensed agencies to provide personal assistance services to people with physical disabilities who are mentally and emotionally competent and willing to supervise their own attendant or who have someone who can supervise the attendant for them.
