 Airman and Family Readiness Center

AFRC helps individuals and families enhance their quality of life and supports military commanders as the focal point for issues important to military families. Single or married Active Duty, Guard, Reservists, Retired Military members and each of their families, as well as DoD civilians are eligible for services. The Air Force recognizes the direct relationship between mission accomplishment and quality of life and provides services here to help meet those needs of our Veteran population. Processes authorized loan/grant applications. Enhances the marketability and employability of Air Force spouses through career planning, job research skills and employment information. Develops and maintains family education and enrichment programs that cross the entire life cycle, including child development, financial consultation, career development, consumer education, deployment issues and other programs as needed. Provides free household items for Airman newly assigned to JBSA.

 Army Soldier and Family Assistance Center

The Fort Sam Houston Soldier and Family Assistance Center (SFAC) partners with the Warrior and Family Support Center (WFSC) to provide all SFAC services. The SFAC is a one-stop administrative resource center hosting 14 different services supporting Warriors in Transition, their Family members and Surviving Spouses. Injured Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, and Airmen are transported to Fort Sam Houston, in San Antonio, Texas, for treatment. Fort Sam Houston includes Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) which is one of the world's best medical treatment centers. This Level 1 Trauma Center specializes in treatment of burns and amputations. With the world class burn center and the Center for the Intrepid seriously wounded Warriors receive the finest treatment and recuperation programs. The SFAC provides these Warriors and their Family members extensive assistance on their road back to duty or in their transition back to their civilian community.

 Citizen Soldier Support Program

CSSP seeks to effectively engage communities in serving the needs of National Guard and Reserve Component members and their families, with a current focus in the areas of faith, legal, financial and behavioral health support. Service members often return from combat bearing the invisible wounds of war: post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, anger, substance abuse, traumatic brain injury, and related conditions.

Supportive Services offered include: - Case Management - Development of a Housing Stability Plan - Assistance to obtain benefits - Referrals to community agencies Limited Financial Assistance - Based on financial need - Assistance available for rent, utilities and/or deposits, child care, auto repair, moving & storage costs, bus fare - Emergency supplies - Limited legal assistance - Budget and housing counseling * Services are provided to: very low income Veteran families; veterans currently living in their home & at risk for eviction; veterans currently homeless & scheduled to move into housing within 90 days or veterans that have become homeless within the past 90 days.  Military ID Card Section (Ft.Sam Houston)

Appointment Details All but children (age 10-21)require 2 valid forms of identification. Appointments are m-f 1320-1440. All family members must be accompanied by the sponsor, or a current Power of Attorney or a verified DD Form 1172. Adding a spouse to DEERS When adding a spouse to DEERS, the sponsor needs to bring the following documents for their spouse: Marriage Certificate, Birth certificate, social security card & a photo ID. All documents must be original or certified copies. Dependant ID Cards For dependant ID cards, the sponsor must be present to sign the DD Form 1172. If not available, the dependant must have a verified 1172 (within 90 days of signature), or a Power of Attorney Full Time College Students All college students must bring a letter from their school registrars office stating that they are enrolled full time in an accredited institution of higher learning in pursuit of an Associate Degree or higher to extend dependant benefits to age 23. Adding Children to DEERS When adding a child to DEERS, the sponsor must have the childs birth certificate and the childs social security card. If a step child is being enrolled, the marriage certificate is required. Documents must be originals or certified copies.
