Provides emergency shelter, disaster health services, crisis counseling and financial assistance to meet immediate needs when disaster, both large and small, strikes. Red Cross disaster assistance comes in the form of vouchers used to purchase items such as food, clothing, basic household furnishings and other items to meet emergency needs. Also offers community disaster education, focusing on helping families throughout the area prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters. Works with community agencies concerned with public safety, health, welfare and emergency services to create a continuum of care when disaster occurs.

 Boerne Counseling & Consultant Service-Kathleen Gleason LPC-S

Counseling services provided to individuals, couples, children, adolescents, family and group. Ages served: 7-99 Ms. Gleason maintains several specialty areas such as forensics. She is recognized as a Diplomat Clinical Forensic Counselor, providing court testimony and has served as an expert/ treatment witness in many court cases. In addition, Ms. Gleason utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, with a psycho-educational approach for treatment of various issues including substance abuse and addiction counseling. Topics such as the disease concept, adult children of alcoholics, denial, family roles, codependency and recovery are taught. Additional issues addressed relate to Anxiety, Relationship, Communication, Grief and Loss, Stress, Trauma, Behavior, PTSD and Depression.

Free, confidential telephone counseling and support, 24/7, year-round. Staffed by trained counselors from a network of crisis call centers located across the United States, all of whom provide: Crisis counseling for those who are in emotional distress related to any natural or human-caused disaster *Information on how to recognize distress and its effects on individuals and families; Tips for healthy coping; Referrals to local crisis call centers or 2-1-1 call centers for additional follow-up care and support.
