Umbrella agency for 3 major programs: 1) Administration on Aging, funded by Older Americans Act, provides assistance to older persons and their caregivers, as well as critical support services, that help older adults remain independent and involved in their communities. 2) Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AIDD) which supports programs both financially and through leadership, for that population which. 3) Aging and Disability Resource Center Program (ADRC), known as "No Wrong Door (NWD)" or "Single Entry Point (SEP)", and are designed to serve as highly visible and trusted places available in every community across the country where people of all ages, incomes and disabilities go to get information and one-on-one counseling on the full range of LTSS options.

 Arc of San Antonio- Outreach and Support Services Program

Free case management program to help families caring for children and adults with I/DD (intellectual and developmental disabilities.) connect to community programs, funding sources and help families navigate the network of service providers in Bexar County. The goal is to move families from a high level of dependency on case managers to greater independence and self-advocacy. Case managers connect families to medical coverage, medical providers, respite care, funding sources as well as food and utility assistance programs. Assist families in finding medical equipment, supplies and therapies. Day programs, residential services, guardianship, supported employment. Quarterly educational seminars and parent support groups. The Comprehensive School-Based Case Management (CSCM) staff works in the San Antonio community with families who have children and young adults, ages 3-21 years, with special health care needs and disabling conditions. CSCM case managers help families navigate the network of service providers and act as advocates to serve the best interests of the child. The Community Living Assistance and Support Services (CLASS) offers individuals with disabilities who need attendant care an alternative to institutionalization by helping them access the resources they need to live and work as independently as possible in the community. CLASS case managers help participants obtain personal assistance with daily activities; personal skills training; physical, occupational, speech and specialized therapies; adaptive aids; minor home modifications; and respite care.

CRCS is the designated Mental Health Authority and the Authority for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Day Programs- 21 years and older who are not enrolled in school. Provides training to assist consumers to become employed or to increase skills in daily living. Residential Services- 18 years and older Hill Country MHDD Centers provides residential services in group homes designed for 3 to 4 people throughout Hill Country's catchment area. Hill Country operates these homes 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. The homes are funded through Home and Community Based Services funding. Supported Home Living: Support to eligible families in the community setting who might otherwise require services in an institutional or residential setting. Trained, experienced staff provides children and adults with daily living skills and other individualized needs. Foster and Companion Care (HCS only)- help the consumer with daily living activities such as grooming, eating, dressing, and personal hygiene plus independent living tasks such as securing transportation, housekeeping etc. Foster Care: to people with disabilities in a family home, where provider is unrelated to the individual. Companion Care: to person with disabilities in an apartment or home shared by both parties. The provider may or may not be related. Respite - All ages. Emergency or planned short-term care and supervision. In-home and out-of-home respite for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Additional respite is also offered through contracted providers. Service Coordination- All ages: assistance for individuals and families to access support services that will help a person achieve a quality of life and level of community participation through individualized planning, authorization, linkage, coordination, and monitoring of services.

 Jamie's Ranch For Special Kids

Jamie's Ranch provides day recreation in a ranch setting for special needs kids ages toddler through adult. Special needs kids of all ages are given the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of animals. Horse rides are given in a secure round pen along with a handicap horse ramp that make mounting and dismounting very easy. Other activities include a hay ride with a scavenger hunt, crafts and music. Individuals, groups and families are all welcome. This is FREE for all special needs, their families, teachers caregivers etc. We do not have set days and hours that we are open.
