2 locations in San Antonio provide respite or nursing & personal care over an extended period of time (usually more than thirty days) for people who require convalescent care at a level which is less than that provided in an acute facility and/or for chronically ill or aged individuals or people with disabilities.

Cancer Services, Psychiatric Services, Rehabilitation Services, Solid Organ Transplants Weight Loss Surgery, Surgery * The 26-bed medical/surgical unit emphasizes highly personal nursing care for patients recovering from operations related to urology, orthopedics, gastric bypass/weight loss & general surgeries. Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital has three dedicated endoscopic/laparoscopic operating suites featuring equipment that allows surgeons to perform traditional surgeries through smaller incisions. This type of surgery offers a number of benefits including decreased hospitalization, faster recovery and lowered risk of infection. ** Sexual Assault Response Team: compassionate environment for sexual assault survivors ages 13 and up. Through an exclusive agreement with local law enforcement agencies, a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (S.A.N.E.) trained by the Texas Attorney General’s office, provides comprehensive care to sexual assault survivors and collects physical evidence that can be used to prosecute offenders. Follow-up care, counseling & treatment of related injuries are also provided. A Methodist Healthcare chaplain & advocate from the Rape Crisis Center provide counseling and support to the survivor & family.

Provides a home and specialized care for survivors of traumatic brain injury and other disabling conditions. Work with individuals with heavy care needs and also help those with cognitive issues (memory, judgment) and behavior issues. We do not allow behaviors that cause physical harm to self or others. Low-income clients accepted.

Provides comprehensive treatment of adults and children disabled by brain or spinal cord injury, stroke and neurological disorders, orthopedic disorders, arthritis and disabling illness. Outpatient services include Comprehensive Brain Injury Program, Pulmonary Rehabilitation Day Program and Comprehensive Orthopedic Program.
