 City of San Antonio (COSA)- Department of Human Services/Family Assistance Division/Training for Job Success

Department of Human Services’ Family Assistance Centers works with individuals and families and in the San Antonio/ Bexar County community. The Training for Job Success program is designed to support individuals as they prepare for better employment that leads families to self-sufficiency. * Job readiness activities such as assistance with résumé writing, interviewing skills and job leads * Scholarship opportunities for Alamo Colleges * Demand Occupations Training Programs * Textbooks, supplies and uniforms required for * * One-on-One career coaching, case management services and counseling services * Assistance with utilities and rent * Connection to other community resources ** Eligible participants must meet income criteria upon enrollment into the program.

Mexican American Unity Council offers 3 areas of service: 1) Community Programs: GED classes, adult literacy in Spanish, & much more. 2) PMNC (Precious Minds, New Connections) funded by Kronkosky Charitable Foundation, provides parent support, such as free childcare, parenting classes & more. 3) Senior Services: partnering with City of San Antonio to provide nutrition program, commodities, Medicare/Medicaid Assistance, Medical Transportation, Computer Lab, & more.

 Presa Community Center

1) After school program for children ages 5-13 years old. Mon-Fri 3-6 pm. Kid’s Café, in conjunction with the San Antonio Food Bank to provide a hot meal/snack when the kids get in from school. 2) Family programs, such as emergency food assistance, GED/ESL classes, free tax preparation, & financial mentoring. 3). Senior Nutrition Center (see also separate agency listing, "Presa Senior Center"): Social activities, & education. For those seniors that live within 3 mi. radius of the center, transportation provided. Notary public services are also available for senior adults and other clients at no cost at the center.

 San Antonio Adult & Community Education

Services offered under the SAISD Adult Education are FREE of charge to the community and include the following: GED® /TSI preparation; adult basic education (mathematics, reading and writing); English as a Second Language (ESL); ESL Citizenship; preparation for post-secondary education (college and/or career training and; distance learning (online classes). NOTE: A variety of Community Education classes are offered as well.
