 Communities In Schools of San Antonio (CIS-SA)- Stay in School Program

Provides resources and services to students and their families by CIS Site Coordinators to help them overcome obstacles to personal and academic success. Program components include counseling and supportive guidance; health and human service referrals; parent and family involvement; educational enhancement; enrichment activities; career awareness and pre-employment services. CIS serves the following school districts: Edgewood, Harlandale, North East, Northside, San Antonio, South San Antonio, Southwest, Dilley, Pearsall, Somerset, and Bexar.

 San Antonio OASIS (OASIS at Morningside)

OASIS is a non-profit organization offering challenging programs in the arts, humanities, health, technology & volunteer service for people 50 years of age & older. * Handyman Program: minor home repair for cost of supplies only. OASIS volunteers provide the labor. * Also provides physical fitness classes. OASIS Intergenerational Tutoring Program offers a 12-hour training session for volunteers. Once trained, volunteers meet one-on-one with a child in grades 1, 2 & 3 in 44 Northside I.S.D. and 10 San Antonio I.S.D. elementary schools to read, write and improve communication skills. * OASIS has 4 outreach locations: Copeland Activity Center, Elvira Cisneros Senior Community Center, & Northeast/District 10 Senior Center, & Baptist Health System Healthlink.

 SA Youth (San Antonio Youth)

a 26-year-old nonprofit agency that exists to promote the positive development of poor urban youth living in pockets of poverty and at the risk of dropping out of school. SA Youth is concerned primarily with the prevention & recovery of high school dropouts. Workforce Training program offers young people the opportunity to not only earn their High School Diploma or GED but also prepares them for the workforce. Students acquire the knowledge and skills to work in construction, technology or the green jobs industry. High School Credit Recover program & leadership development. * Kids Café & Child Nutrition: offered in partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank, we are fighting childhood hunger; serves all ages & operates twice daily during the summer & once a day during the school year. This program provides hot meals to children & nutrition education to families. During the school year youth are served a healthy snack upon arriving after school. Children who remain through dinner are served a nutritional hot meal. Throughout the summer months children are served a healthy breakfast & a hot lunch.
