 I Care San Antonio

Serving residents of Haven for Hope. A faith-based, medical organization managed primarily by volunteer doctors. Provide dilated eye exams, refractions and glasses, and medical and surgical eye care to those who cannot afford it. Application may take 6 weeks to receive an appointment at the I Care Center.

Non-profit, voluntary health agency. An affiliate of Prevent Blindness America, PBT delivers direct service programs designed to preserve sight through vision screenings, information & referral services, & public and professional education. Provides adults, seniors & children with information & resources to help protect their vision and improve their quality of life. We educate adults about the risk of eye disease and the need for regular professional eye care, and we support the relationship between a patient and his or her eye doctor. We help identify adults at risk of eye disease and vision loss through certified vision screenings, trainings and referrals for eye care services.

 San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind (SALB) / Seniors Program

With classes on Braille, diabetes education, medication management and cooking, the Senior Center offers a great place to learn how to maintain their independence & socialize at the same time. Provides in-home training & skill development on household management, personal care, communication skills, falls prevention, & travel training; teaches techniques & tips to maintain independence in daily living activities; Provides access to technology & computers to further enhance independence; Provides individual & in-home counseling to help in the adjustment to blindness, & encourages newly blinded persons to join in activities outside the home. Low vision clinic for eye evaluations. Assistance in the purchase of devices recommended by the Low Vision Doctor.
