Veterans hospital, under the Department of Veterans Affairs/South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS). Provides comprehensive acute hospital care, including medicine, surgery and psychiatry. Other specialty hospital programs include rehabilitation medicine, spinal cord injury, substance abuse, dental, and a restorative nursing home care program. There are numerous outpatient programs, including home care, community nursing home care, community residential care, adult day health care, a day treatment center, Women Veterans Program Manager, care to homeless veterans with serious psychiatric problems and services to veterans with severe visual problems.

Provides a broad range of counseling, outreach, and referral services to combat Veterans and their families. Vet Centers guide Veterans and their families through many of the major adjustments in lifestyle that often occur after a Veteran returns from combat. Services for a Veteran may include individual and group counseling in areas such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), alcohol and drug assessment, and suicide prevention referrals. All services are free of cost and are strictly confidential.

Readjustment counseling is a wide range of psychological social services offered to eligible Veterans and their families in the effort to make a successful transition from military to civilian life. They include Individual and group counseling for Veterans and their families, Family counseling for military related issues, Bereavement counseling for families who experience an active duty death, Military sexual trauma counseling and referral, Outreach and education including PDHRA, community events, etc., Substance abuse assessment and referral, Employment assessment and referral, VBA benefits explanation and referral, Screening and referral for medical issues including TBI, depression, etc.

Services to Veterans & TRICARE beneficiaries. PRIMARY CARE: VA patients are assigned a Patient Aligned Care Team health care. TRICARE patients are assigned to Family Medical Home health care team. These health care teams work collaboratively with other clinic staff to insure the best care available. Specialists are available by referral. ADDITIONAL SERVICES: nutrition counseling (VA patients only), pharmacy services, laboratory services, radiology services, gender specific health services (VA patients only), social work services (VA patients only), patient education programs, mental health outpatient services (VA patients only), your primary care provider, nurse, or the Health Benefits Advisor can answer any questions about these programs.

South Texas Contract Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS) contracts with local primary care providers to improve access to health care services for Veterans closer to their home or work. Primary Care means that one physician or physician group coordinates all of your medical care. This physician (group) will be the doctor you will always see. When needed, he/she will refer you to other physicians for specialty tests or treatments. These consultations will be done at the nearest STVHCS VA facility. After the consult is completed, reports of this care will be returned to your primary care provider by entering them into your medical records through the computerized patient record system (CPRS) so your primary care provider can continue to coordinate your care. The services provided by the Audiology Division include: Diagnostic hearing evaluations, Tinnitus, assessment and management, Cochlear implant evaluations and programming, Hearing aid evaluations, Assistive listening device assessments, Hearing aid repairs and reprogramming, Audiologic rehabilitation, Vestibular/balance assessment, Auditory processing evaluations, Compensation and pension exams, Ototoxicity Monitoring.

An active ambulatory/primary care program which provides outpatient services to veterans throughout South Texas. Specialists available by referral. Additional services: nutrition counseling, pharmacy, social work services, mental health outpatient services. Special programs: Gulf War Registry, Agent Orange Program, Ex-Prisoner of War Program, OIF, OEF, OND. This is not an emergency facility.

An outpatient treatment program that offers extensive skill-building group modules for veterans Through a therapeutic learning environment, veterans are guided, supported, and empowered to develop and strengthen their life, coping, self-care and social skills in order to attain their personal recovery goals.
