An outpatient treatment program that offers extensive skill-building group modules for veterans diagnosed with a serious mental illness (SMI), to include PTSD and TBI. Provides counseling to eligible veterans who exhibit symptoms of rage, depression, emotional numbing, isolation from others, survival guilt, sleep disturbance, flashbacks, nightmares, and hyper alertness. Through a therapeutic learning environment, veterans are guided, supported, and empowered to develop and strengthen their life, coping, self-care and social skills in order to attain their personal recovery goals. Provides a broad range of counseling, outreach, and referral services to combat Veterans and their families. Vet Centers guide Veterans and their families through many of the major adjustments in lifestyle that often occur after a Veteran returns from combat. Services for a Veteran may include individual and group counseling in areas such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), alcohol and drug assessment, and suicide prevention referrals. All services are free of cost and are strictly confidential.

OEF-OIF care management is provided to severely injured and ill OEF and OIF service members and Veterans by MSWs and RNs across the continuum amongst various systems of care. This involves acting as the lead case manager for emerging medical, psychosocial, or rehabilitation problems, managing the continuum of care, care coordination, acting as patient and family advocates and assessing clinical outcomes and satisfaction. Coordination of those services is ensured by the OEF-OIF Care Management Team at each facility specifically for this population of Veterans by OIF-OEF Patient Advocates.
