 Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG)

Provides technical assistance to member governments in their planning functions, preparation of applications, and administration of area-wide programs. Program specific technical assistance for regional planning in: aging services, economic development, 9-1-1 systems, homeland security, criminal justice, resource recovery, air quality, transportation, weatherization, and workforce. Administers the Alamo Local Authority for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Sponsors special projects in response to local government needs or requests. Support for these activities is provided through local dues, state appropriations, state and federal grants that are matched by local monies, and other public and private funds.

 Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) / Weatherization (WAP)

Provides no cost weatherization or energy conservation measures to low-income people, particularly the elderly and disabled. Services may include: attic, wall, floor insulation, weather-stripping and caulking, replacement or repair of broken windows, installation of new gas water heaters, space heaters, HVAC, or window air conditioning units. Note the agency doesn’t provide units, but may replace inefficient ones. Renters and mobile homes accepted, unless the mobile home is on wheels. Appliances provided are only to replace existing ones already in the home.

Accessibility modifications such as interior/exterior handrails, door widening, exterior ramps, countertop/cabinet adjustments, accessible kitchen appliances, buzzing/flashing devices, accessible door/faucet handles, elevated toilets, shower grab bars, shower wands, walk-in showers, pedestal sinks, etc. There may be a waiting list for services. No mobile homes.

 Casa Verde SA- Weatherization (City Public Service - CPS)

Weatherization assistance program to assist low-income homeowners and renters by installing upgrades that increase the energy efficiency of their houses and reduce utility bills. Partnership between the City of San Antonio and CPS Energy. Houses must be structurally sound. Casa Verde SA is NOT a home repair program. Administered by CPS Energy and uses local contractors and energy auditors to complete the work. Attic/wall insulation, caulking, weather-stripping, solar screens.
