 Atascosa Family Crisis Center

A safe place for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. 24-hour crisis hotline, transportation, meals and emergency fund, legal and personal advocacy; offers licensed peer and group support counseling (with childcare provided), safety planning, transportation, food, and emergency shelter. Everything is held confidential. Provides counseling and other non-resident service for any victim of family / dating violence, sexual assault and/or stalking.

 Children's Shelter of San Antonio

24-hour temporary residential emergency care and assessments for children age birth to 14 years, who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, abandonment, and/or neglect. At the Woodlawn location, children participate in classroom instruction in an on-campus school, field trips, and an array of activities in the Learning Center. All children are given assessments, which include 24-hour charting, complete medical, eye, and dental exams, a social history, a developmental history and a psychological examination and interview. * Residential Treatment Facility for children enables healing through individualized attention and therapeutic programming. Children reside at the Residential Treatment Facility until significant emotional development has been achieved. They are then placed with their biological family or in a foster family setting. Several other programs available, including Project MAS (Mothers and Schools), Girls Inc, Nurse-Family Partnership, IParentSA, and many more.

 Family Violence Prevention Services

Mission: break the cycle of violence and to strengthen families, by providing the necessary tools for self-sufficiency through the delivery of emergency shelter, transitional housing, education, effective parenting education, and early intervention with children and youth. 1) Battered Women and Children's Shelter - see separate entry 2) Other services: Counseling for all ages; Children's Services Program; Violence Intervention Program; Transitional Housing Program; "POWER": Providing Options With Educational Resources, which offers GED, ESL, Computer Literacy, and Banking Basics; Youth Substance Abuse Intervention Program; Community Based Counseling Program for residents of homeless shelters; Legal Services Program, providing free legal assistance to income-eligible victims of domestic violence; and several other programs. 3) Volunteers: FVPS has an active group of volunteers who provide help to victims, children, 4) Outreach Program: education throughout San Antonio promoting awareness of domestic violence and educating victims about their rights and options.

 Respite Care of San Antonio (RCSA) / Davidson Respite House (DRH)

Offers a 24-hour crisis emergency shelter and crisis respite for a child/loved one with a developmental disability. Secure outdoor courtyard, gardening area, public transportation nearby. 16 beds, 4 cribs. Many of the children have been removed from their homes by the DFPS as a result of abuse or neglect. On-site medical wellness center (partnered with centroMed) staffed by healthcare professionals.
