 Catholic Charities- Archdiocese of San Antonio- Guadalupe Home

Guadalupe Home is a transitional living program for homeless, pregnant women and homeless women with infants, assisting them to become self-sufficient.

 Children's Shelter of San Antonio

24-hour temporary residential emergency care and assessments for children age birth to 14 years, who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, abandonment, and/or neglect. At the Woodlawn location, children participate in classroom instruction in an on-campus school, field trips, and an array of activities in the Learning Center. All children are given assessments, which include 24-hour charting, complete medical, eye, and dental exams, a social history, a developmental history and a psychological examination and interview. * Residential Treatment Facility for children enables healing through individualized attention and therapeutic programming. Children reside at the Residential Treatment Facility until significant emotional development has been achieved. They are then placed with their biological family or in a foster family setting. Several other programs available, including Project MAS (Mothers and Schools), Girls Inc, Nurse-Family Partnership, IParentSA, and many more.

Haven for Hope is a private non-profit aimed at transforming the lives of homeless men, women and children in the San Antonio/Bexar County area. Partnering with 78 governmental, non-profit and faith-based agencies, Haven for Hope seeks to transform the lives of the homeless by addressing the root causes of homelessness through education, job training and behavioral health services. Provides critical social services to help the homeless become self-sufficient individuals on a long-term basis. Housing: has a direct line with SAHA to place the homeless.

 Salvation Army Hope Center Emergency Men's Shelter

Provides emergency shelter to homeless men. Meals are provided with a clean bed. Sheets and towels are provided as well. Caseworker services available.

Hours: Office 8:30 - 5:00 weekdays; Shelter Checking is at 3:30 pm Exit time is at 7:00 am

Fees: 3 free nights for homeless lodging; after 2 free nights, Must meet with Case Manager to obtain extended stay & pay $10.00 fee per night.

Application Process: Intake done at front desk registration; all clients will be breathylyzed

Eligibility Requirements: Males age 18 or older; two forms of ID, picture ID and Social Security card; smoke free, alcohol free, and drug free facility

 Visitation House

A two-year transitional housing & education program which provides the opportunity & the means for homeless single mothers & their children to achieve self-sufficiency & independence through its focus on education as foundational to ending the cycles of poverty & homelessness. A neighborhood learning center, La Casita del Saber, open to low-income women from the community to help them achieve greater self-sufficiency & independence through education. An afterschool children’s program aimed at building their self-confidence & raising their educational level.

Eligibility Requirements: Single women 18 years and older with children under 12 years of age; currently homeless as defined by HUD guidelines; must have desire, interest, and ability to participate full-time in an education or vocational training program
