 GreenPath Financial Wellness

GreenPath Financial Wellness is a non-profit credit counseling organization that helps people get out of debt. Offer free debt counseling, and help people eliminate credit card debt. Assist with student loan debt, help homeowners avoid foreclosure, provide reverse mortgage counseling to seniors, help people manage their credit score, and provide bankruptcy counseling and education for debtors filing for bankruptcy. Financial education is part of everything we do, and we also offer a wide variety of financial education tools and resources. Offers foreclosure prevention for homeowners who are struggling with their mortgage payment; Home buyer preparation assistance for people who are planning to buy a house. Reverse mortgage counseling for seniors at least 62 years old who are considering a reverse mortgage. A locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged. Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families must provide at least 300 hours of labor to help build their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments help to build additional houses. You will be considered for a Habitat home if your present housing is not adequate, and if you are unable to obtain adequate housing through other conventional means. Lack of adequate housing may include problems with the present structure; water, electrical or sewage service systems; heating system, or failure to meet city property maintenance standards. Also taken into consideration are the number, ages and gender of children compared to the number of bedrooms in your present home. The percentage of your monthly income that you currently spend on housing is considered to determine need. You will be required to openly and fully discuss your financial situation with Habitat interviewers.

Haven for Hope is a private non-profit aimed at transforming the lives of homeless men, women and children in the San Antonio/Bexar County area. Partnering with 78 governmental, non-profit and faith-based agencies, Haven for Hope seeks to transform the lives of the homeless by addressing the root causes of homelessness through education, job training and behavioral health services. The Foundation can provide answers, connection to a counselor, and comprehensive telephone counseling to help homeowners avoid foreclosure. An independent nonprofit that provides counselors from HUD-approved agencies dedicated to helping homeowners. The help we offer is free. Our counselors are experts in foreclosure prevention and trained to set up a plan of action.

Leave a message & your call will be returned. * Provides hope to families & individuals by preventing them from entering homelessness. * Provides rental assistance, utility assistance & supportive services to enable individuals & families who are in imminent danger of eviction, or are currently homeless. SAMMinistries works with the homeless by cutting the amount of time a family experiences homelessness & rapidly re-housing families into permanent homes. Supportive services must directly relate to the prevention of homelessness & rapid re-housing. These services are provided in an effort to stabilize families in their existing homes, shorten the amount of time that individuals and families stay in shelters, & assist individuals & families with securing affordable housing. The households must document a temporary economic crisis beyond their control, by giving evidence of at least one of the following conditions: loss of employment; medical disability or emergency; loss or delay of some form of public benefit; natural disaster; substantial change in household composition ; victimization by criminal activity; illegal action by landlord; displaced by government or private action.

 San Antonio Alternative Housing (SAAHC)

Nonprofit organization providing housing & support services for low & moderate income communities. Owns 9 apartments complexes in San Antonio, & 20 rental homes. Concentrates on neighborhoods within Loop 410, San Antonio, Texas, with special emphasis on housing development in low-income neighborhoods. Most clients served have annual median incomes (AMI) at or below 80%. * Home Ownership Program: housing counselor provides a pre & post home ownership counseling program. SAAHC provides or coordinates all aspects of new home construction, assisting families from lot acquisition through moving into their new home. Through funds from the City of San Antonio, SAAHC provides deferred & low interest loans to families with annual median incomes at or below 80%. Other sources of assistance are periodically available depending on the location of construction. * Scattered Site Rental Program: affordable rental housing through homes & four-plex units in various neighborhoods in San Antonio. Section 8 certificates or vouchers are accepted. * Multi-Family Rental Program: Rental housing is provided for families through 12 multi-family developments in San Antonio; older properties that have been renovated & preserved as affordable rental units for low income families. * Social Service Program: Community Learning Centers are located at the larger SAAHC multi-family apartment properties to serve the social & educational needs of residents. In addition to social services, after school computer training, & adult education, training in conflict resolution is provided for families with at risk youth.
