City of San Antonio Department of Human Services, Center for Working Families: supportive services, case management and employment referral assistance to families of San Antonio and Bexar County. Family Assistance Center’s main focus is to provide low income families and individuals with the support they need to move toward better jobs and financial self-sufficiency. Through combined federal (Community Services Block Grant), utility (CPS Energy and SAWS), and general fund dollars, the Department of Human Services’ Family Assistance Centers provides help to families in San Antonio and Bexar County that are seeking to meet basic needs, such as utilities and rent, and those aiming for better employment. SAMMinistries works with the homeless by cutting the amount of time a family experiences homelessness & rapidly re-housing families into permanent homes. Supportive services must directly relate to the prevention of homelessness & rapid re-housing. These services are provided in an effort to stabilize families in their existing homes, shorten the amount of time that individuals and families stay in shelters, & assist individuals & families with securing affordable housing.
