Offers crisis intervention and assistance with personal and family problems requiring profession direction. Provides emergency assistance with food, clothing and medication, and emergency utility assistance for those in specified areas of town (Southside; see zip code list. Also serving Somerset, Jourdanton, and Von Ormy.) A food distribution center for the San Antonio Food Bank’s Project H.O.P.E commodity program. Distributes free groceries to persons aged 60 and older who meet financial eligibility criteria.

 Catholic Charities- Archdiocese of San Antonio- Guadalupe Community Center

Offers social services that enhance the culture, health, quality of life, and progress of individuals and families, with a particular focus on individuals residing in the west side of San Antonio. The center provides the following services: direct assistance (food, clothing, and referral services); a food program for seniors; nutrition and wellness programs; after-school and youth enrichment program (after-school meals, transportation from surrounding elementary schools, homework assistance, tutoring, arts and crafts, recreational and organized sports, computer lab); chess tournaments for youth; Ballet Folklorico dance program; counseling for adults; and legal assistance.  House of Neighborly Service

Provides food to individuals and families in crisis. ** Food Service: serves approximately 110 families and individuals every Tuesday morning. Vouchers for food are distributed at 8:00 a.m., information intake is at 10:00 a.m. Contents may vary but a typical box contains: vegetables, fruits, beans, rice, dairy products, and bread. ** Senior Lunch: Tuesday - Wednesday - Thursday 11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Seniors over the age of 60 eat free. ** Project HOPE: First Wednesday of Month. HNS offers a food program for people 60 and older. People receiving TANF/AFDC, Food Stamps, Medicaid, or SSI may still qualify. If interested please bring proof of income, age, and residence. ** Commodity Supplemental Food Program: Last Wednesday of month for people 60 and older.

 San Antonio Food Bank (SAFB) / Project H.O.P.E. (Healthy Options for Elderly Program) Commodities Program

Provides groceries to low-income seniors for home consumption. Each month, the San Antonio Food Bank delivers truckloads of grocery bags to each of the City of San Antonio's 100+ senior nutrition program sites. Call Coordinator or any distribution center.
