One-time emergency financial assistance to prevent utility disconnection, financial coaching, and budget assessment for income-eligible individuals and families. Case management staff provides a thorough intake and assessment of the family’s financial state in order to provide the best possible plan to help them move toward financial stability and self-sufficiency. Also utilize the Clothes Closet and Food Pantry to assist clients with obtaining their basic needs at no cost, reducing the client’s cost of living expenses. Referrals for additional Catholic Charities programs, employment, community resources and government assistance will also be provided to those in need. If eligible for financial assistance through this program, Catholic Charities will remit payment directly to the vendor.

24-hour temporary residential emergency care and assessments for children age birth to 14 years, who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, abandonment, and/or neglect. At the Woodlawn location, children participate in classroom instruction in an on-campus school, field trips, and an array of activities in the Learning Center. All children are given assessments, which include 24-hour charting, complete medical, eye, and dental exams, a social history, a developmental history and a psychological examination and interview. * Residential Treatment Facility for children enables healing through individualized attention and therapeutic programming. Children reside at the Residential Treatment Facility until significant emotional development has been achieved. They are then placed with their biological family or in a foster family setting. Several other programs available, including Project MAS (Mothers and Schools), Girls Inc, Nurse-Family Partnership, IParentSA, and many more.

The Children’s Shelter offers and coordinates foster and adoptive family services, partnering with couples and individuals who can provide temporary care for children removed from their birth families due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. The Children’s Shelter provides the required training and licensing for prospective foster and adoptive parents and individuals interested in foster care, foster-to-adopt and straight adoption services.
