 Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG)

Provides technical assistance to member governments in their planning functions, preparation of applications, and administration of area-wide programs. Program specific technical assistance for regional planning in: aging services, economic development, 9-1-1 systems, homeland security, criminal justice, resource recovery, air quality, transportation, weatherization, and workforce. Administers the Alamo Local Authority for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Sponsors special projects in response to local government needs or requests. Support for these activities is provided through local dues, state appropriations, state and federal grants that are matched by local monies, and other public and private funds.

Provides direct public transportation services for residents of Alamo area rural counties. Door-to-door service available for those needing mobility assistance. ART also provides scheduled and flex route service in selected cities and locations. Medical, Youth (after-school, including to day-care), seniors, adult day care, and general public.

Alamo Regional Transit provides quality public transportation for all citizens in Guadalupe County. The Connect Seguin route provides reliable, quality transportation to many of the major destinations around town, such as hospital, clinic, TLU, HEB, Walmart, etc. Wheelchair accessible. Seniors: $.50, regular fare $1.00. Police, fire and military in uniform ride free. For door-to-door service, 1-Way: $2.in town, $6. in county, and $8 out of county.

 Bob Ross Senior Multi-Service Health & Resource Center (Council District 8 Comprehensive Senior Center)

Comprehensive services and information for seniors who are independent and over the age 60. There are several programs offered at the center. Some of the programs include the Senior Nutrition Program, fitness classes, computer classes, art classes, social & cultural activities, and volunteer opportunities.

 GRASP Transit- Greater Randolph Area Services Program

The agency will provide transportation to clients over ages 62 or those who are disabled, (recipients of SS or SSD income) who are able to access the vehicle with little or no assistance or with wheelchair lifts. Transportation is offered by appointment only- preferably with 48-hour notice.

 Jefferson Outreach

Provides resources and support to the elderly residing in San Antonio and the surrounding areas. All services are geared towards enhancing the quality of life and promoting independence for persons 60 years of age or older. Founded in 1984, and supported entirely by partnerships and donations from individuals, local business, Churches, foundations and grants. We aim to help those, 60 years of age or older age gracefully and comfortably within their homes.

 Kirby Senior Center Nutrition and Transportation

Van service is available for Kirby seniors who want to come to the center for lunch and activities; call ahead to schedule a ride! The Kirby Senior Center Transportation Program provides travel to and from not only KSC (for seniors that are not Kirby residents) but doctors’ appointments, other recreational destinations and for errands such as trips to the grocery store.

 Northeast Senior Assistance (NESA)

Northeast Senior Assistance (NESA) volunteers provide transportation for seniors, age 60 & above, in private autos for medical, dental, or vision appointments. Three weeks prior notice required. Cannot do wheelchairs. Telephone reassurance is also available. Offers grocery shopping service for clients. This is the only errand running or shopping assistance offered by NESA. A volunteer is assigned 1 or 2 clients to contact on a weekly basis & take the grocery order. The volunteer picks up & delivers the groceries to the clients home. Clients are responsible for payment of groceries. There is no charge for the delivery.

 Presa Community Center / Transportation

Presa Community Center provides transportation services for those who are unable to drive or use public transportation. Elderly & persons with disabilities can use this service to make doctors appointments or shop for their weekly groceries. Registration is required to participate. Serves all of San Antonio & Bexar County. ADA Accessible vehicles. Transportation fee $5 one-way, $10 RT. Reservations should be booked at least two weeks in advance, or as soon as patients have the date & time of their next doctor’s appointment, as the program is in great demand & fills up quickly.

 Ride Connect Texas

Ride Connect Texas provides free, volunteer-assisted transportation services to adults (60 years and older) and their caregivers to appointments who live in South San Antonio. Volunteer drivers needed to make a difference and help reduce isolation and remain active and healthy older adults in San Antonio. Apply on our website. Our Mobile Rides program provides rides that are $4 each way/$8 round trip in an accessible van for people with disabilities (50 & Older) that is VIA Trans eligible. Older Adults may also schedule with Mobile Rides. First Come First Serve scheduling.

No scooter for volunteer rides. Must live in the service area
