Providing assistance in many areas including accessing, determining and understanding VA benefits, filing claims for VA benefits, specialized non-traditional resources within the region and nation for Veterans and their Families, as well as support services for specialized issues such as PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury.

ReMIND.org is a public education movement of the Bob Woodruff Foundation that educates the public about the needs of injured service members, veterans and their families as they reintegrate into their communities. The vision of the Bob Woodruff Foundation is to provide resources and support to injured service members, veterans and their families -- building a movement to empower communities nationwide to take action to successfully reintegrate our nation's injured heroes especially those who have sustained the Hidden Injuries of War back into their communities so they may thrive physically, psychologically, socially and economically.

Debt Management Plans (DMPs) are negotiated payments with creditors that pay off debts with creditor concessions. Since DMPs actually pay off the debt, instead of having a portion of it charged off or settled, the impact on future credit is more positively treated by potential creditors. DMPs have a maximum term of 60 months to pay off non-secured debts. Each Texas Veteran, dependent or survivor will receive an in-depth analysis of their financial situation and if a DMP is the best solution to their specific needs, the plan is put in place. CCCSSA Certified Consumer Credit Counselors are trained and experienced to help Texas Veterans achieve their financial goals. A grant recipient of the Texas Veterans Commission to provide services statewide for financially stressed Texas Veterans, their dependents and survivors.

The Federal Recovery Coordination Program (FRCP) provides support for the recovery, rehabilitation and reintegration of severely injured, ill or wounded service members and Veterans. To get into the Federal Recovery Coordination Program, you can be referred by a member of your multi-disciplinary team, your commander, wounded warrior program or through self-referral. Referral criteria includes Spinal Cord Injury, Burns, Amputation, Blindness or Visual Limitations, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Considered at risk for psychosocial complication.

An outpatient treatment program that offers extensive skill-building group modules for veterans diagnosed with a serious mental illness (SMI), to include PTSD and TBI. Provides counseling to eligible veterans who exhibit symptoms of rage, depression, emotional numbing, isolation from others, survival guilt, sleep disturbance, flashbacks, nightmares, and hyper alertness. Through a therapeutic learning environment, veterans are guided, supported, and empowered to develop and strengthen their life, coping, self-care and social skills in order to attain their personal recovery goals. Provides a broad range of counseling, outreach, and referral services to combat Veterans and their families. Vet Centers guide Veterans and their families through many of the major adjustments in lifestyle that often occur after a Veteran returns from combat. Services for a Veteran may include individual and group counseling in areas such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), alcohol and drug assessment, and suicide prevention referrals. All services are free of cost and are strictly confidential.

The Trust accepts gifts through workplace giving campaigns, including the Combined Federal Campaign and United Way, employee matching gift programs, and similar special giving arrangements, and provides a variety of direct services for America's disabled veterans. The Trust continues to seek new and innovative ways to make a positive difference in the lives of disabled veterans and their families through: " Programs ensuring quality health care for veterans, " Assistance to veterans suffering Post Traumatic Stress and substance abuse, " Programs enhancing research and mobility for veterans with amputations and spinal cord injuries, " Programs benefiting aging disabled veterans, " Evaluating and addressing the needs of veterans disabled in recent wars and conflicts, and much more, as needed.

Gift from Within is a non-profit organization dedicated to those who suffer post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), those at risk for PTSD, and those who care for traumatized individuals; develops and disseminates educational material, including videotapes, articles, books, and other resources through its website; and maintains a roster of survivors who are willing to participate in an international network of peer support.

The purpose of the Hazelwood Exemption (Hazelwood Act) is to provide an education benefit to honorably discharged or separated Texas veterans and to eligible dependent children and spouses of Texas veterans.

Empowers transitioning U.S. military members, veterans and their spouses to succeed in the civilian workforce through workshops, personalized career coaching and employment preparation counseling. Our services are provided at no cost to the transitioning military member, veteran, or spouse. In our signature workshops and online programs, you are individually partnered with a highly-trained Veteran Transition Specialist who works to: •Create a tailored civilian resume that effectively highlights skills and achievements •Translate military experience into civilian terminology •Learn effective job search, strategic networking and interviewing techniques •Get connected with companies who want to hire veterans

Purpose is to provide or coordinate financial assistance and housing resources to our Nation’s Heroes such as Military personnel, Police/Peace Officers, Firefighter and First Responders who are in need.

A Warrior's Wish® supports the long-term goal of hope beyond recovery. These Wishes fulfill a desire for a better quality of life or support a quest for life-gratifying endeavors. Knowing that wishes can come true directly affects service members'; spirits in addition to the families and communities that support them. Whether realizing a dream to sail, ride a bike again, or own a home adapted to specialized needs, Hope For The Warriors® honors the goals and desires of wounded service members and their families. The Above and Beyond program provides guidance to wounded service members pursuing reintegration into the civilian sector. The program consists of one-on-one mentoring, weekend seminars, and follow-up coaching, all specifically designed around participants'; individual objectives. Regardless of the service member's experience level or skill set, this program will assist in targeting personal and professional short- and long-term goals and outlining a step-by-step plan by which to achieve them. Couples, Singles and Family Wellness Retreats Hope For The Warriors® partners with other organizations to support weekend counseling retreats. Wounded warriors and their families are able to spend a weekend away, strengthening family relationships and learning techniques for handling stress. Caregiver Dinners Dinners near major military medical centers bring caregivers and families together for a relaxing evening. Such events provide opportunities for a sense of camaraderie allowing all attendees to draw strength and information from their shared experiences. The Hope and Morale program provides respite and recreational opportunities for wounded service members engaged in the long process of recovery. Such events raise spirits, restore hope and inspire a commitment to recovery—all-important factors in long-term rehabilitation success. The Immediate Needs program involves integrated case management on various levels engaging individual wounded service members, the VA and/or the warrior unit in which they are associated, medical professionals (if applicable), the Department of Defense and other nonprofit organizations. Hope For The Warriors® Outdoor Adventures program provides adaptive opportunities for wounded heroes to participate in sporting activities in the great outdoors. Service members, who previously embraced an outdoorsman lifestyle, as well as those new to wilderness sports, are introduced to recreational opportunities on the road to recovery. The Spouse/Caregiver Scholarship program identifies, recognizes, and rewards spouses/caregivers for their strength, fidelity, and resolve despite adversity. Scholarships aid in continued education at a reputable, accredited university, college, or trade school for spouses/caregivers as they assume critical roles in the financial well being of their families. Scholarship awards are $5,000 to be made co-payable to the scholarship recipient's institution for payment of tuition, books and supplies and may be reapplied for up to four years for a maximum of $20,000. The application process is the same for new applicants and renewals.

The Semper Fi Fund and America’s Fund provide immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to post-9/11 wounded, critically ill and injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, and their families, ensuring that they have the resources they need during their recovery and transition back to their communities.

Provides complete hospital services and social work services to military personnel, Veterans, Veteran families and DoD personnel.

Provides immediate emergency financial assistance for Texas Guard service members and their families.

The Air Force Wounded Warrior Program (AFW2) is a Congressionally-mandated and Federally-funded organization tasked with taking care of U.S. Air Force wounded, ill, and injured Airmen, Veterans, and their families. We provide personalized restorative care throughout their transformation back to duty, separation, or retirement, staying in contact with them throughout the process as an Airman For Life. The goal is to leave them well-equipped to manage challenges, regardless of injury or illness.

Assists veterans & their survivors to obtain earned benefits from the Dept. of Veterans Affairs. Assists in completing the correct forms/applications & collecting the appropriate documentation to support a claim for federal benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). If VA denies benefits, VSO staff will assist clients compose the necessary statements & forms in filing an appeal. Provides comprehensive knowledge of federal & state laws & regulations applying to veterans & their dependents in obtaining all benefits to which they are entitled by law. Provides advisory service on benefits involved by reviewing a veteran’s or surviving family member’s situation; acts as an advocate of the veteran or his family in dealing with agencies, organizations & institutions; consults with Texas Veterans Commission, VA Medical & Regional Office Personnel in development of medical treatment claims. Interviews veterans & their dependents on obtaining benefits, rights & entitlements. Develops plans for conduction briefings, filing claims, correction and upgrading of discharges, assist with enrollment in VA Healthcare.

WWP exists to honor and empower wounded warriors who incurred service-connected wounds, injuries, or illnesses on or after September 11, 2001.
